Your birth is a very personal, amazing experience and essential oils can help to shape your experience and create the kind of atmosphere you want. Whether you need to be invigorated or relaxed, essential oils can support and aid you in this life changing event!
Oils to use DURING Labor
You can make a lovely massage oil to use AFTER labor has begun with Helichrysum, AromaEase, Ylang Ylang and Clary Sage added to your favorite carrier oil. This can be rubbed on the lower back and the feet and ankles.
- Frankincense can be applied around the vaginal opening
- Valor can be applied to the back of the neck
- Peace and Calming can be applied to the wrists and feet
- En-R-Gee can be applied to the back of the neck if mom starts to get tired
Oils to diffuse during labor
- Lavender
- Frankincense
- Ylang Ylang
- Peace and Calming
Oils that can be used to care for mom after birth:
- ClaraDerm (can be applied to vaginal area)
- Gentle Baby (can be applied to abdominal area)
- TenderTush (can be applied to perineal area)
Oils that can be applied to the abdominal area with a carrier oil to aid in expelling the placenta:
- Geranium
- Lavender
- Jasmine
If a momma has a C-section, these oils may be applied to the incision area:
- Rose
- Helichrysum
- Frankincense
- Lavender
- Believe
Many moms also like to diffuse purification and lavender in the delivery and recovery room to purify the air. If you know a mom who is having a baby, a thieves hand sanitizer makes a great gift to keep nearby, as it effectively purifies without exposing baby to any toxic chemicals that are in many of the mainstream hand sanitizers.
