Epic Road Trip Day 3 started refreshingly cool…

The cooler temps were one of the things I looked forward to most before the trip started and I wasn’t disappointed when we woke up to a cool breeze blowing in the window of my Uncle’s home. I took the kids to play on the patio so they wouldn’t wake up the grownups and the air was crisp and fresh. I love Santa Fe weather!

We left at about 9 o-clock to head North towards Denver. The drive was beautiful and even the kids paused from playing their various devices to look up in awe as we drove through the pass (their minds will be blown when we get to Canada).

The drive was fairly uneventful. We stopped in Trinidad, CO for lunch. We spied a park from the interstate. It was right down town, beside bricked roads and a lovely river. The kids enjoyed stretching their legs and we ate boiled eggs, strawberries and cheese.

We got back on the road to Denver and we arrived at my brother’s house around 4 o’clock, just in time to partake in birthday festivities for my nephew!

The kids enjoyed the acrobat hoop in the garage, as well as the face painting, body tattoos, balloon art and sprinklers. My family knows how to have fun. 😉

They also enjoyed drinking the mini-sodas provided. Since we don’t drink soda at home, the novelty was huge. Especially for the toddler. He thought he was HOT stuff.

And then there was the delight of meeting cousins for the first time since they were babies!

nothing like cousins

This awesome day ended with putting the little ones to bed and and the adults playing board games while the bigger boys played hide and seek in the dark and watched Doctor Who. We made the most of a one day visit, because it’s onward to the North!
