Little Dream, Big Bus
It all started with our epic road trip… two years ago when my sister and I took the kids from Texas up to Canada and back down the West Coast. Some people probably thought we were crazy, but 4 kids in a mini-van through mountains, forests, islands, deserts and prairies might have been one of my favorite life adventures thus far. I remember my second son (9 at the time) would point out RVs and talk about how he was going to buy one for he and I to live in together when he grew up (so cute that he thought living in an RV with his MOM was going to be something he still wanted to do as an adult). But it did get me thinking… About how much I loved to travel… with my family… and road trips…
Fast forward to when we got home and I found this story of a family who had converted a bus into an RV and I was intrigued. I sent it to my husband and I think he thought I was crazy (hey, HE married ME). But the idea was planted and over the next few months we kept finding inspiration in other people’s stories. Fast forward to Spring of 2015 and my business had really taken off and we realized that paying for this crazy project could be a reality and we started researching.
The great thing about Justin and I is that we compliment each other’s strength and weaknesses. I am the dreamer, the global thinker, the visionary. He is the one that can research, plan, figure out details to create reality out of dreams. Have I mentioned how much I love this man?
Fast forward another year, we paid off some big debts and saved up for our very own bus. We are ACTUALLY DOING THIS. He is documenting the actual bus conversion in all it’s glorious detail here.
I know the idea of traveling around the country with 5 kids in a tiny home on wheels isn’t everyone’s dream (I lost you at “5 kids”, right?), but it is ours. To visit the highest peak in every state and to visit all the family and friends we haven’t seen in years. The bus conversion may take us a while, but it is happening. Follow our little dream, big bus journey!
