Gift ideas – Donate to charity: water

In the spirit of minimalism and not collecting or giving more “stuff” that will be temporarily enjoyed and then set aside to gather dust, I am suggesting a different kind of giving this year. Rather than shopping for things that your family and friends don’t need (think about it. Is there anything you TRULY need???), consider making a donation in their name to charity: water. Did you know that 33% of people in Cambodia do not have access to clean water? charity: water is going to change that.

Since 2006, charity: water has been providing access to clean water to people around the world. They have built wells, provided filtration systems and set up rainwater catchments. If you want to know a little bit more about the desperation for clean water, watch this:

Think about it.

Then think about the amount you would spend on your average gift from the mall. Did you know that with just $15 charity: water can provide clean water for one person? And $65 will provide a whole family with a BioSand filter to purify their water.

Donate now in place of a gift.  And then give your family or friends this card or something like it:

Make your gifts this holiday season count. Eliminate the unnecessary. Make a difference.
